On the Yarra waterfront, in the Southbank area, there is the highest skyscraper in Melbourne, Eureka Tower (7 Riverside Quay, Southbank). In addition, it is the tallest residential building in the world in terms of the number of floors. The Eureka tower got its name in honor of the uprising of gold diggers at the Eureka mine during the Australian gold rush. The idea was reflected in the design of the skyscraper: the gold “crown” at the top symbolizes gold mining, and the vertical red stripe – the blood shed during the uprising.
On the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower, at an altitude of 285 meters, you will find the highest observation deck in the southern hemisphere, Eureka Skydeck 88. From here you can enjoy stunning views of the city and its surroundings. This is one of the first places to go in Melbourne – you can see CBD at a glance with all the attractions and residential areas to the horizon. Try to get to the observation deck in clear weather and shortly before the sun sets. You will look at the city during the day, you will see a stunning sunset and night lights of the skyscrapers of the southernmost metropolis of the planet. On the observation deck there is a bar with snacks, ice cream, hot and cold drinks. And those who want to tickle their nerves can additionally visit The Edge – a glass cube that protrudes 3 meters from the building at a height of almost three hundred meters. A ticket to the Eureka Skydeck costs 22 AUD (when buying online – 20 AUD), a ticket to The Edge – 12 AUD. Discounts apply (Child, Concession and Family Ticket).
